Volunteers are needed to host a Conservancy information booth at the City of Irvine Global Village Festival. This is a very busy community festival (15K+ attendance), and during each shift volunteers will get a break to go check out the festival, including the food booths from local restaurants!

Actual event time is 10 am to 6 pm. Shifts are as follows:

• First: 9:30 am-2:00 pm
• Second: 2:00 pm-6:30 pm
• Lead: The Lead for this event will be responsible for taking the Conservancy materials and supplies back to the office on Monday/Tuesday. The lead only needs to work the second shift.

Please feel free to sign up for both the first and second shifts if you can. Even though the shifts say “Registration,” you will actually be manning a Conservancy information booth. We will follow up with parking directions for those who volunteer.

Join us for a docent-led mountain bike ride through the Irvine Open Space Preserve. This is a moderate-paced mountain bike tour through the picturesque hills of Bommer and Shady Canyons with a combination of ranch roads and multiple intermediate and advanced level technical singletrack trails, and many steep climbs and descents. Over 2700 feet of accumulated climbing elevation is experienced on this route.

Participants should be physically fit and possess above-average mountain biking skills.  Please note, this is an intermediate to advanced level ride. This ride features only a few, short rest stops, steep climbs and rocky descents. It requires above average fitness, and a mountain bike with a minimum of front suspension.

Join us for a docent-led mountain bike ride through the Irvine Open Space Preserve. This moderate-paced mountain bike loop begins at the Bommer Canyon Trailhead. We will head out through the Bommer Meadow and move along the Shady Canyon Bikeway to Quail Hill. The route then traverses the Quail Trail, Serrano and Hogback Ridges, and ends with a descent along the Ridge Route. On days when the ride begins at Quail Hill, the ride will begin on the Quail Trail and end on the Shady Canyon bikeway.

Views of the picturesque hills of the City of Irvine Open Space abound throughout. Riders will move along a combination of bikeway, ranch roads and an intermediate level single track trail with several steep climbs and descents. Over 2100 feet of accumulated climbing elevation is experienced on this route.

Participants should be physically fit and possess above-average mountain biking skills. Mountain bike, helmet, and 32 oz. of water (minimum) required. Please note, this is an intermediate level ride that features several short rest stops and opportunities to re-group. However, this ride requires above average fitness and a mountain bike with a minimum of front suspension. If you are unsure of your abilities, please call first.
