Irvine Ranch Conservancy Volunteer supported Bird Point Count Limestone Loop #2

Counted all the birds from the Spur gate to the first point (traveling count).
– Do stationary 5-minute counts at each of the point count locations (stationary count).
– Put in only the additional birds that you see on the way between point count locations (incidental count).
– Count all the birds from the last point count location (#33) back to the Spur Gate (traveling count).

Between point count locations count as incidentals.

Adhere to inclement weather (including rain, trail conditions, and Red Flag Warning) policies.

IRC will contact you if your patrol is cancelled for Fire Watch weather.

IRC volunteers must be in IRC uniform (with proper landowner identification/patch), including your badge(s).

Before leaving your home to report for the activity, fill your water bottle, bring everything you need to be healthy, and conduct a self-assessment.

Trails to be on count:

Enjoy a morning at Clark Regional Park and learn about ancient plants! Participants will visit the Interpretive Center, listen to a story, take a short walk in the park, and make a craft. Activities are designed for ages 2-6 but all are welcome.

We will meet in front of the Interpretive Center.
Minors age 16 and younger must be accompanied by a guardian.

Space is limited; parents must register themselves and each child.
This program is free and parking is $3 per vehicle.

Join naturalist and outdoor enthusiast Kimberly Leeds for a guided hike at the Bay! During the hike, we will examine the unique adaptations that our local plants, animals, and insects have developed to survive in our southern California coastal habitats. As a board member for Harbors, Beaches, and Parks and an Orange County Wild Woman, Kimberly brings over thirty years of naturalist experience to this program.

We will be going on a 1-mile walk over easy but uneven terrain. Please note that there will be stairs on this hike. Please bring water, snacks, and sun protection as needed. This program is geared towards those 8 and up. Individuals 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

The program and parking are free.

Walk-ups are welcome, but advance registration is recommended. The program will cap at twenty participants.

Adverse weather may cancel the program.
