Activity Cards

On this slow paced hike in an oak filled canyon you will hear the story of the Irvine Ranch; from its earliest occupants, through the rancho  period, the acquisition by James Irvine in 1876, and the Irvine family through today. Come prepared with water and a spirit of adventure!

Please join us in activities such as harvesting, processing seeds, and maintaining our native plant seed farm at Orchard Hills. The seeds and plants you will be working with were grown on the farm last year, and these new plants will be used to restore habitat within the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks in 2014. Work will be easy to moderate, some simple weeding maybe included.
We look forward to your support in helping Irvine Ranch Conservancy restore our beautiful California wilderness. We recommend 12 years and older please.

Are the regular cardio hikes a little too fast for you? If so, join us on this slower cardio hike that incorporates a little more interpretation. Explore beautiful Weir Canyon on this cardio hike. Along the trail, you’ll pass through coastal sage scrub, grasslands, and oak woodlands. Multiple steep climbs and descents are included. Enjoy views of Saddleback Peak and the Cleveland National Forest along the way.

Remember, even though this is a slower cardio hike, it is still faster than a walk. You must be able to go the entire time without stopping. Please make sure you are in excellent physical condition!
