Activity Cards

Explore the beautiful Weir Canyon and surrounding hills on this cardio hike. Along the trail, you’ll pass through coastal sage scrub, grasslands, and oak woodlands. Multiple steep climbs and descents are included. Enjoy views of Saddleback Peak and the Cleveland National Forest along the way.

Remember, this cardio hike is much faster than a walk. You must be able to hike at a average pace of 3.5 mph to 4mph uphill and the entire time without stopping. Please make sure you are in excellent physical condition!

Please join the Irvine Ranch Conservancy to help restore habitat in the Gully! Participants will engage in a range of activities from collecting and sowing seed, planting native plant, and removing weeds. Participants will also enjoy off-trail access and a healthy workout–all while helping improve their native community! Training, tools, gloves, and chaps will be provided to help protect you from potential encounters with poison oak, bees, and rattlesnakes. Note that this event is held on the first Friday of each month.

Enjoy an evening fitness hike through stunning rock formations and fragrant native plants as you listen to the sounds of nature. During the winter, the hike will be under the stars with a panoramic night lights overview of Orange County.

This hike is done ‘at your own pace’ as a walk, jog or run (speed range typically 2.5 to 3.5 mph) so is suitable for beginners who are just starting their fitness program as well as more experienced hikers who are looking for a workout.

This “out-and-back” hike travels the 3.5 mile route to scenic Loma Ridge (450′ elevation gain) and back down with most participants finishing the route in about 1.5 hours.

Family friendly but children must be closely supervised by an adult and either able to hike with the group or carried by a strong adult. Strollers OK but contact office for information first.
