Led by the Newport Aquatic Center in partnership with the Newport Bay Conservancy. One of the best ways to appreciate Upper Newport Bay is to get out on the water. Kayaking in the Newport Beach Back Bay is fun and easy. Come out for a two hour guided kayak tour of the Back Bay in the heart of Newport Beach every Saturday and Sunday morning year-round.

Join us for a morning of restoring trailside habitat by closing an unsustainable trail. We will plant cactus and use creative techniques to camouflage the unauthorized trail. Seeds and organic material will promote the growth of healthy native plants.

No previous trail work experience necessary, just a desire to work outdoors and get dirty!

All tools, water and lights snacks will be provided. Please wear sturdy shoes or boots, long pants and sun protection.

This program has a difficulty rating of 4 due to the steep slopes on which the work will take place. The program will involve less than 1-mile of hiking on the steep Changala’s Pass trail. Participants will be rewarded with sweeping, 360-degree views of from the Santa Ana Mountains to the ocean.

Reviewing the 1-through-5 Difficulty Ratings will help you evaluate your readiness to participate in this level-5 activity on the land.
