Park staff is requesting assistance from Park Ranger Reserves to help enforce “Do not feed the squirrel” regulations at Mile Square Park. Due to the feeding of park wildlife by the public, the squirrel population at the park has become extremely brazen. Ranger Reserves are needed to conduct vehicle and foot patrols to educate and advise the public about not feeding the wildlife.

IRC staff, local butterfly enthusiasts, and experts continue to monitor IRC’s butterflies every month! We will be recording number and types of butterflies encountered along the trails of Limestone Canyon. Our butterfly count will provide a benchmark estimate of diversity and number of these beautiful insects to compare to future local surveys and to larger patterns being compiled nationwide. Experience YIKING! Join us for a strenuous morning workout and guided yoga stretching, with a 360º panoramic view from the East Loma Ridge atop Limestone Canyon. Our hiking pace will be at least 3.5 mph. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring a personal yoga mat. No previous yoga experience is necessary.
